Lean and Agile Topics
Welcome to this edition and it is as always a mixed bag. Lots of Lean articles and events plus some remote work discussions. Also a quick article on NFTs something I have been studying for the last few days and find very interesting and maybe an opportunity to get involved early. Here is an example NFT below. Seems crazy but so did Bitcoin etc.

Nine out of ten UK workers want the option to work remotely once offices reopen, while the same proportion desire a better office set-up when they do go in, new research today suggests.
Data from OpenSensors, a workplace technology company, shows that a similar proportion of workers (90.5 per cent) are being offered the option to pursue remote working post-Covid-19 – but they aren’t doing away with the office altogether.

Virtual Process Improvement Join our weekly demo
Do you have processes? You need to improve and change them? You use something like Visio to map your processes? Have a look at this: About this event A process map is a planning and management tool that visually describes the flow of work. Using process mapping software, maps show a series of events that produce an end result. Process mapping in healthcare: a systematic review - great report on Process Mapping in Healthcare
Introduction Process mapping (PM) supports better understanding of complex systems and adaptation of improvement interventions to their local context. However, there is little research on its use in healthcare. This study (i) proposes a conceptual framework outlining quality criteria to guide the effective implementation, evaluation and reporting of PM in healthcare; (ii) reviews published PM cases to identify context and quality of PM application, and the reported benefits of using PM in healthcare.
Prospering, not profiteering - Planet Lean for a better planet
Success is traditionally measured by profit. It is based on profit that a company’s performance is assessed. It is based on profit that investors pick which horses to back. In time, however, we have also learned that an isolated measure of profit drives leaders to put money before morals, swinging performance down a one-way street. It also makes us vulnerable to inequality, environmental damage, and failures in the economy. It’s a trajectory that is only lucrative for a select few. Decision making in this setting drives shareholder ahead of stakeholder value through cost-down strategies or by raising top-line revenues without much care for how it’s done.

Procurement smells. » Waldo Jaquith
Can we improve procurement? Procurement smells. Posted byWaldo JaquithJune 23, 2021 Leave a commenton Procurement smells. Major government software procurements fail at a high rate. There are a lot of methods of reducing the odds of failure, but how do you know if that’s necessary?
Developers talk about “code smells”—small things that are off in ways that indicate that there may be larger problems. So, too, are there procurement smells—the little tells in requests for proposals and associated materials that vendors use to know if this is a project they want to have anything to do with. We can use similar procurement smells to determine if a project has any real chance of success, or if it will join the ranks of the supermajority of major procurement that don’t pan out.
